BASSET HOUNDS:

It has been our experience that Basset Hounds are a very social breed.  The more Basset Hounds you have, the happier they will be.  Even though Basset Hounds are social, they will do just fine in your family without another hound.

Basset Hounds are lazy by nature.  If you are looking for a dog to run with you or play fetch this might not be the best breed for you.  If you want a dog that will cuddle with you, and keep your chair warm for you while you are gone then this would be the breed I would recommend.

Basset Hounds are generally low maintenance.  You will need to make sure to keep their ears clean to prevent ear infections.  Their long ears prevent airflow to the ear canal and hold in moisture that can lead to painful ear infections.  You may find more breed information online.

OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOGGES:

Please understand these dogs are NOT English Bulldogs (like the UGA dog).  Olde English Bulldogges are taller, have a longer nose, and typically have less health problems.

If you are looking for a dog to play with and to give you exercise this is the perfect breed.  Olde English Bulldogges or "Oldies" are sweet and playful, but they are also very alert and protective of their family and environment.  They are very effective alert dogs.

Please consider that while Olde English Bulldogges can live in apartments or small areas, they will need a place to run so they can burn off excess energy.
